Have a list of people's addresses and want them to contact Congress? Geocodio enables you to convert addresses or latitude/longitude pairs into Congressional districts and add Congress member contact information with one request.
This can be useful for a variety of purposes. For example, if there's a cause that's important to your organization, you might want to give your supporters or customers the contact information for their Representatives and Senators.
To help you towards that end, we will return Representative and Senator information for the current Congress when you look up Congressional districts. This information is provided for no additional cost when you add a Congressional lookup.
This data comes to us from the UnitedStates project on Github and includes:
- Biographical info: First name, last name, birthdate, gender, party
- Contact info: DC office address, DC office phone number, contact form link (if applicable), official website
- Social media info: RSS URL, Facebook slug, Twitter handle, and YouTube ID
- Reference data IDs: Bioguide, Thomas, OpenSecrets, LIS, CSPAN, GovTrack, VoteSmart, Ballotpedia, Washington Post, ICPSR, Wikipedia
You can convert addresses or latitude/longitude into Congress data programmatically via API or via spreadsheet upload.
To add Senate and House representative information from a spreadsheet, use our file upload tool. In step 3, Appends, select "Also Add Legislator Data?" under Congressional Data.
To use this via API, use version 1.2 of our API. This data is included automatically when you use the the
cdfield. See more here.
You can see a sample of the output here.
Cost and Usage
Requests are billed as geocode + Congress info (i.e., two lookups). The first 2,500 lookups per day are free -- so in this case, the first 1,250 address + Congress lookups per day are free.
You can calculate how much this will cost you and how long it will take here.
There is no minimum or maximum number of requests.
There are also no restrictions on how you use the data, so you are free to, for example, store it in your own database. See our full Terms of Service here.
